Flying Solo ...
So this is the first official day I guess that I am flying solo, as Derek is at work, and my mom is back to work after being here with me for 3 days and helping out so much. I guess I am not totally alone today as my sister is stopping by before one of her classes to see how things are going.
I also have a Health Nurse coming by today to see how things are going and to answer my sheet of questions (haha). Hopefully she will ease my mind, and give me answers.
I want to post some more pictures, but I am finding it hard to get any time to go downstairs and wait and upload them, so hopefully when Derek is home this week (Thursday & Friday - He is getting his wisdom teeth out!) He won't be in too much pain and can help occupy Alexis so I can run down there.
I got her pictures back from the Superstore, and they turned out awesome! We got quite a few too with the package that we chose, however we will still need to get some more for other family members. It was quite the experience though getting them taken ... she really did not enjoy the whole being naked part, as we are quickly learning there are certain things that will make Alexis cry.
Those being: - In need of a diaper change
- Being naked
- Gas (and let me tell you, this girl has a lot of it!)
- And finally when she's hungry
Other than that, she is quite content sitting with someone, and looking around!
Well it's almost feeding time, so I must go, sorry if I have been neglecting the blog, but as I said I will try to get on here soon.

One Week Old Today!
I can't believe that Alexis is one week old already! Time seems to have flown by this week!
Things are going good with her! We had our first 'experience' of a restless night last night. She just did not want to go to sleep after her 2am feeding. She would fall asleep, then I would put her in her bassinet and every 15 mins. she would wake up and start to fuss! At 4:45 my mom let me go and get some rest and she took over to get her to sleep (thanks mom!) ... so hopefully tonight is not a repeat.
Today is Alexis' first 'outing' (besides her doctors appointment). She is going to have pictures taken today! I am really nervous about taking her out, especially since I don't really know all the workings of the car seat (that's usually Derek's thing) and just how she will be for the pictures. Hopefully all goes well though!
If I can get some time I have more pictures to post, and I will try and get the ones done today up if we can!

1st Doctor's Appointment - March 24
Alexis had her first doctors appointment today and it went very well, aside from the fact that she hates to be naked and I had to strip her down to her diaper (she was not pleased at all ... I'm sure everyone in the doctor's office heard her screaming!).
She is a little jaundice, but the doctor isn't too concerned about it because she is eating enough and seems content, they will continue to monitor this throughout her next couple of appointments. She also is back up, and a little over her birth weight. She currently weights 7 lbs. 5.5 oz. (every little bit helps) which we are quite happy over as I wasn't sure if she was getting enough food. I'm now pumping and bottle feeding her for the time being until we can get this whole breastfeeding thing underhand. My mom is going tomorrow to get some things the doctor suggested that would help with this.
Other than that, the doctor was please with her progress so far (she is only 4 days old) and everything looks good!

She's Finally Here!!!
I'm sooooo sorry for not posting earlier, but it's quite hard to find time to make it on here to the computer as I am sooo in love with my daughter! I don't have enough time to get into details about her birth, but I'm sure some have already heard what went on, and if you haven't, when I do find time I will write it on here.

But we are all doing well, Alexis is a pretty content baby, unless she's gassy, hungry, tired or cold ... other than that she LOVES to snuggle up close my my neck, and makes the funniest faces!
Thank you to everyone for all of your kind wishes, it means a great deal to Derek and myself.
Well back to "work" (I'm loving every min. of it though!)
[Here is the only picture I have on here of her so far, I have taken sooo many more on my camera but haven't had time to download them onto the computer, so I promise to do that soon too in the near future! This picture is one of her "rough" ones ... she's red from the forceps and labour ... ]

40 Weeks + 1 Day
Just an update for everyone ... everything is still the same, still no sign of baby yet. Last night proved to be a repeat of the night before, however I did manage to get a little more sleep. I am still have pains/cramping/contractions? ... we arn't reallt sure what they are. I called the hospital yesterday and talked to a labour and delivery nurse, she said if the 'pains' were not coming consistently than probably best just to stay home and wait it out ... but if I was really worried I could come in and they would check me.
Derek and I are debating about going in today to the hospital ... just because I still have the cramps/pains, and some of them are worse than others. We may go later today/tonight if they still persist.
So that's just the update for you today, we will keep you posted!

Officially 40 Weeks Today!
Today is my "official" due date, and this baby just might show up on time. I had a really bad night last night, I actually considered going to the hospital just so they could check me because of the pain I was having. I don't know if they were contractions or not, but it wasn't fun. I finally got up at 4am and walked around the house, came on the computer and checked my emails, had something to eat, and finally fell asleep for a few hours after Derek left for work.
I also made sure this morning I have everything packed and ready (just in case haha ... what can I say I'm a worrier) so that if I do have to go to the hospital in the middle of the night, we know where everything is and its all together. I even have my clothes layed out haha!
Well its a waiting game now I guess, and we will let you know when the time comes on what's going on!

40 Week Appointment
So I had what should be my last official appointment today. My original OB wasn't there today, so I had seen another doctor, who I must say is quite nice! She checked baby's heart rate, and measurements, and said "You've grown a very good baby" ... whoo hoo for me! haha. And then it came time for the internal (as I shudder), they are so not fun. She checked me and then told me I was 3 cm dilated. then proceeded to ask me what I was doing Saturday? I said "umm nothing" (I just assumed she was making small talk?) and then she said "how would you like to have a baby that day?" I agreed it was definitely time! Unfortunately Saturday at the hospital is booked full (go figure!), so they had to make it for Sunday - If I even make it until then. The OB said she was pretty sure I would have that baby before Sunday, but nonetheless in case I hadn't that's when I would be induced.
She said they would call us sometime on Sunday, we don't' know what time it will be ... when they have a bed and nurse available. Soooo ... as of right now I am REALLY uncomfortable! I have a lot of cramping and pressure. We will keep everyone posted, and when she arrives I'm sure you will all hear from Derek, my parents or my sister!
That's all for now!

3 More Down
My sister reminded me this morning that 3 more family members are out of the guess! Sorry Dad, Kyle and Mom (Marlene) but she didn't want to be a St.Patty's day baby!
The only ones left are Ashley and Derek now ...

She Doesn't Even Listen to Me!
So with two hours to go until the day I chose for the family guess is officially over, I can safely say that I think this little girl will decide when she's good and ready to come out ... She doesn't even listen to her mother ... go figure. Is this what I have to look forward to until she's 18? HaHa.

39 Weeks Pregnant
This is it. Baby is "suppose" to arrive in 7 days. I can't believe I've been pregnant for 39 weeks! It's amazing. The beginning of the pregnancy I found to go quite slow, perhaps because I was so sick, then trimester 2 was nice, I was no longer tired, morning sickness had gone away, and then trimester 3 comes and it isn't so bad at first either ... until you hit week 37 or so, and everything is getting sore. You finally realize you can't do things like you use too, and everyday things become harder to do. Believe me, I'm hoping she arrives on schedule because I really don't want to go longer, but I figure she will come when she's good and ready.
Anyways, enough of that. Here is what is going on in week 39:
The big day is almost here and it won't be long before you're able to cuddle your baby. But don't worry if by the end of this week you're still waiting -- only 5 per cent per cent of babies are born on their expected due date and a whopping 75 per cent are born later. You are probably as big as you are going to get and may be uncomfortable now. Your uterus is about 7-8 inches above your bellybutton now.
The average baby is about 20.5 inches / 51 centimetres long from head to toe and weighs approximately 7.5 pounds / 3.4 kilograms at birth, but anywhere between 5 pounds 11.5 ounces and 8 pounds 5.75 ounces / 2.5 and 3.8 kilograms is a healthy range for newborns.
Although your baby continues to grow and develop inside of your uterus, there is not much room for him to move about. All of your baby's organ systems are now complete and the lungs were the last to fully mature.

This is Funny!
So someone sent me an email with a link to a website that can predict your future child. Whether you want to know the gender of the child you will have or when you will have your child. I chose obviously for when I will have our child. She asks you like 10 questions from what the last animal you saw, to your favourite colour, and what the weather is like outside.
This is her prediction for our baby:
Madame Zaritska, using her mystical powers, has the following prediction:
The day you deliver, outside will be misty. Your baby will arrive in the middle of the night. After a labor lasting approximately 18 hours, your child, a girl, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 14 pounds, 14 ounces, and will be 16 inches long. This child will have light brown eyes and fluffy blonde hair.
I thought 18 hours isn't that bad, till I kept reading and saw 14 POUNDS!!! I SURE HOPE NOT!!!

Another BIG Thank You!
I wanted to show what an awesome job Derek's dad did on the book shelf for the baby. Since there isn't much room in the room, I had my eye on this one books shelf from Pottery Barn, but its in the states and to ship it and what not would cost a fortune! So I sent Derek's dad a picture and he so graciously made it! It's amazing and looks exactly like the picture! Now we have a place to put all of her books! I'm going to paint it and then Derek will attach it to the wall when I'm done. But I wanted to send a big thank you out to Derek's dad!!! Thanks!!!
My Birthday
I thought it would be really neat if our little one arrived on my birthday or around the day ... but no such luck ... but I did have a great day! I wanted to thank my husband and sister for painting our bedroom (after 2 years of living in our house, we finally got rid of the grey ceiling and ugly yellow walls!). I love our new room! My mom got me the bedding for my birthday from non other than Homesense (becoming one of my favourite stores for house stuff!) and Ashley got me a picture from there for the wall, that we just happened to come across and I love it! I wish I could have helped more guys, but thank you anyways! You did a great job! And I know Derek was happy to FINALLY get rid of the wood shutters that he has detested since buying the house (but that I liked ... oh well). Here are a couple pictures of the new room!

Just Waiting Around ....
So the car seat is in, and the bags are packed ... now the waiting begins. Nothing really eventful is going on with me these days. I pretty much have a routine down now since being off for 5 days. Still am not sleeping well (last night was the worst, and to top it off Noelle now snores like a trucker! I had to wake her up twice to tell her to stop!)

'Early' 38 Week Appointment
Since my doctors is really busy this week, I had my 38 week appointment today ... only 2 days after my 37 week check up but oh well. Things are still looking good, baby is measuring on target, heart rate good. My doctor checked me internally and she said I am 1-2 centimeters dilated, but don't all get excited yet ... I can still go overdue being 1-2 centimeters dilated!
I had the car today so I picked up Derek from work ... went down a really bumpy road (there and back) and had spicy taco's for dinner ... both natural ways to get baby out!!! haha! As I am sitting here typing this, she sure isn't enjoying the spicy taco's either!
38 Weeks Pregnant:
Your baby might just scratch herself in the womb as the fingernails have grown over the fingertips now. Resist painting them hot pink when she arrives. Baby's lungs continue to mature and her brain and nerve function are working better every day. The latter two will continue to mature until Junior is a teenager, at which point she'll know it all (or at least she'll think she does). Your baby weighs about 6½ pounds and is around 19 or 20 inches long—as long as a duffel bag (in case you needed an excuse to go shopping for a new bag for your labor gear).
You may be waiting for your water to break, to get the show on the road! But only 10 percent of women actually have their water break on its own. Many times, the doctor breaks it when you are in labor at the hospital. Now is probably a good time to start sticking closer to home -- no extravagant vacations … just in case.

Family Baby Guess
Our immediate family members decided tonight that they would guess the babies due date and weight. It was really interesting to see what everyone decided! It would be crazy if I actually did have the baby on one of the days that someone chose! No prize for the winning date though ... unless they want the honours of changing the first dirty diaper??? any takers?? ... didn't think so ...
