For those of you who are interested in how New Years goes down in our household now with the little kiddie, this is what we are currently doing ...

First we watch a little hockey. This includes Derek screaming and banging stuff when Canada scores (great eh?).

Then since we are starting our "we're going to get fit" kick January 1st which does not include eating take-out or junk food we opted to eat this for dinner ...

and we did some "toasts"
(Lexi's new thing that my dad taught her) ...

and a few "mom I'm done with the photo shoot" faces ...

and then to conclude our night as we wait for the big old 2011 ball to drop ... Derek and I will be participating in this ...

Oh yeah ... we will be busting moves until 11:59pm haha!

Anyways, I hope you are enjoying your New Year's Eve wherever you may be! Happy 2011 Everyone!

Resolutions.

It's that time again ... time to make the good old New Years resolutions. I don't really know if I've ever stuck to it, but I'm really hoping to make this year the year! So here we go ....

1. N.B.A - Hello my name is Allison and I'm a member of Nail Biters Anonymous. This year however, I need to kick this filthy habit - if not for me, for Alexis so she doesn't fall into this habit as well! I will ensure that I have nail polish on my nails each day to help curve the nail biting habit and will splurge on manicures from time to time to reward myself.

2. Eat Healthier - I think everyone can do this, but we need to bring some healthy eating to our house a little more. I'm not saying we can never eat chips again - but everything in moderation. I will be placing a picture of myself on the fridge to help me realize my goal of what I once looked like "pre-baby" body just for a little added motivation lol!

3. Drink More Water - I HATE water. I doesn't satisfy me at all. But I would like to ensure that with my daily Diet Coke I also get a couple glasses of water in there. It does a body good!

4. "Exercise" - I say this loosely because like most people I'm sure - I hate it. However if it's disguised as something fun than I'm all over that. Hopefully our new Kinect will help with this as we have been playing it together and it seems fun! Plus Derek and I get to challenge each other.

So these were just a few things that I think are reasonable to attain this year. Do make New Years resolutions and if so, what are yours?

Christmas Part One - Picture Heavy

We hope you all had a great Christmas/holiday with those you love. We certainly did! I'm not kidding when I say that Alexis was completely spoiled this year! We came home and brought with us tons and tons of clothes and toys for her. But we know its just not about what you get. I love spending time with our families and we certainly did lots of that! Here are some pictures from the last couple of days!

Atttttttt Laaaaasssstttttt ....

My love has come along .... Isn't that how the song goes? Please meet Dyson. She's new here. Since our old crappy vacuum finally waved the old white flag and called her quits, I finally decided to invest in a better vacuum. We did our research and felt that for what we were looking for Dyson would be the way to go. We talked to some people, read reviews and checked out some sites. It had mixed reviews (as did all the other ones we looked at) but we felt that it would be a good investment, and believe me it IS an investment. These vacuums aren't cheap and we knew that, but we figured we could invest in another cheap $200 one that will eventually break down because I have a vacuuming problem and compulsion due to use or we could invest a little money in one and have it for awhile. So the search began and I knew the boxing day flyer's would bring me joy. We searched through tons of flyer's to check out each and every store that sold them to find out how much we could save. Finally found a couple stores but to our luck they had none in stock. We finally ended up at Sears and they were happy (well I don't know if they were happy) to price match them for us. I say them too because my parents took the plunge with us and bought one too. So here she is. Isn't she a beauty. I haven't used her yet, but I because this sort of thing excites me I will probably post pictures of before and after. Of course if this whole vacuuming thing isn't your thing just skip on over them :)

So without further adieu ... here she is ...

and after a qucik swipe around our living room with her, proved to us just how powerful she really is ...

From Our Family To Yours!

The Gift.

Alexis was able to open an early Christmas gift the other night, and inside was this adorable soft, fuzzy robe! It was handmade by "Aunt Anne" (who really isn't our Aunt but should be and who we consider an Aunt anyways!). Isn't it adorable! Alexis loves it and says "soft" to us when we put it on her. She has worn it throughout the day and loved putting it on last night after her bath. Thanks again Anne!

Happy Birthday Derek!

Snap.Crackle.Pop.

What I did tonight (also listening to my husband snore as I type this) ...

Life is good.

No Betty Crocker But ...

I used a recipe that my mom has had and made us since I don't know when. It's always been a favourite of mine in the winter, and last night I made a delish dinner for my family. Yummy beef stew. I will wait for the applause. Thank you.

Turning Two.

Is it weird or abnormal that I'm already beginning to have idea's about Alexis' second birthday party? Decorations, tissue paper pom poms and cupcake toppers are swirling through my head! Can you tell what theme we are throwing around?

(All pictures were found through Google)

Winter Fire.

Today we are having someone come and check out our fireplace and clean it. I can't wait to be able to throw a log on there at night and sit and sip tea, cuddle up on the couch with a blanket and watch Christmas movies at night (which seem to have taken over the TV). I love the crackling of a fire, and the smell. I will let you know how it goes.

The First.

Happy first day of winter. Did you stay up to watch the Eclipse?

Uh Oh.

"Dear Allison, Where are you, and why have you neglected me? Sincerely, Your Blog"

Ohhh my fellow readers, I'm so sorry! I know I have been slacking HUGE these last couple of weeks. I wish I had a good excuse, but really all I can say is ... I've got nothing going on lol. Sad isn't it. Well that and my daughter refuses to allow me to venture onto the computer ... she would rather me play with her (crazy eh? lol). So my days are filled with play grocery shopping, reading the same books over and over, painting teeny tiny toe nails with glittery nail polish, and just cuddling on the couch.

Since getting all the Christmas stuff up and done with, we don't have many other projects on the go here. Well I have started to paint all the doors in the house (since we've replaced them all since moving in) and believe me ... it's not so fun, and I'm sure would not be interesting to read or look at on here.  I will figure out something though. The winter storms we've been getting have caused me to lock myself and hibernate inside and not venture out much - unless needed like tonight ... Alexis needed diapers ... well I said to my mom it was that or tomorrow I would have to start using towels :)

Anyways, I'm sorry, I had no idea :) but hopefully (fingers crossed) we get some more action on here!

Until then ... here are some cute pictures (if I do say some myself) of my daughter who feel asleep the other night in the middle of the living room. Her father was watching hockey and I was catching up on my blogs - not my own obviously! haha.

Neige.

It just doesn't want to stop. Atleast it will be a white Christmas for sure!
