I came up with a little routine (if you want to call it that) so she eventually learns and understands when this happens, its time to sleep (fingers crossed haha). Anyways, here is a picture of our first attempt which went great! I only had to go into her room twice to comfort her, and she slept for 3 hours ... I hope it was because she was tired and not because she had, had her needles that day!

First Time Sleeping in her Crib
Our doctor suggested at Alexis two month appointment that we start putting Alexis to sleep awake, so she learns to fall asleep on her own, and later on down the road we don't run into issues with this. I thought this was fine, until I asked the doctor "well how long do I let her cry, because I know she's going to start to cry?" and the doctors response was ... "until she falls asleep" ... ummmm noooo ... so, I decided that I would start during the day for her daytime naps, and eventually work our way to night time, as she is still sleeping in her bassinet in our room.

Doctors Pictures
So Derek thought it was weird that I took pictures of her doctors visit, but I figure it's a memory and she has them to look back on. After all this is the first time she got shots and how she reacted. I'm sure glad her dad came along for this visit, because I sure couldn't hold her little leg down while the doctor stabbed her with needles. She did pretty good for them. The first one she had no idea what was going on, but with the second one she howled (apparently that one can burn going in, the doctor said - how nice eh).
The doctor was amazed at how well she is doing and growing, and she couldn't believe I was still pumping ... I believe she called me a 'champ' ? I couldn't figure out why, its what's best for Alexis.
Anyways, here are the pictures as promised.

Well I can't believe we are here already and Alexis is 2 months old. I honestly don't know where the time has gone. It makes me kind of sad in a way when I do these posts, as I feel like she's growing up too fast, but in a way, I want her to get bigger and grow and see her personality and quirks come out.

At Two Months Alexis:
- Weighs 12 lbs 2 oz. (82 percentile)
- Is 23" long (81 percentile)
- Eats 5 oz now from a bottle.
- She is solidly in size 1 diapers and fills them out quite nicely
- Has moved out of the newborn clothing and now wears size 0-3 months
- Has more hair!!! I've noticed the last couple weeks she's getting more sprouts on top.
- Is sleeping from anywhere of 4-6 hours at night, depending when she gets her last feeding. She has slept for 8 hours one time.
- Some days she likes her quick 40 mins. power naps, and other days she will sleep for 3-4 hours during the day.
- Is starting to "talk" to people and coo. She laughed/giggled today which was hilarious.
- Looks directly at us now, and if she's in a good mood, will surly give you a big smile.
- Has found a new love of her tiny fist. She can't quite figure out how to get that thumb in there again, but has no problem chewing on her hands or her mommy's fingers.
- Still HATES to be burped ... she usually throws a big fit.
- Loves to sit in her Boppy chair and kick her feet around.
- Loves sitting and looking at the t.v. Purely for colours and shapes I'm sure.
- Still loves car rides, although she doesn't sleep during them as much anymore, I guess it depends how tired she is.
- Still loves her swing, and so does Mommy!
2 Month Pictures ...
Are coming ... I will post tomorrow sometime when we are back from the doctors .. she get's her boosters tomorrow ... my poor girl!

Do We Have a Thumb Sucker On Our Hands?
Last night I could hear this noise coming from the playpen, and I thought Alexis was really going to town on her soother, and then I saw her doing this ...
8 Week Pictures
I'm ahead of the game and I managed to take her 8th week photo on the actual day she was 8 weeks. It's nice to finally have some nice weather and be able to put her in some cuter clothes instead of all the pants and long sleeved shirts.
Holding Her Head Up - May 14
This past Thursday night as I was watching the season finale of Hell's Kitchen, I was attempting to get Alexis' to sleep, after a long afternoon and night of not sleeping for more than 20-30 mins. and to my surprise, she put her two hands down on the pillow and pushed herself up on the pillow, lifting her head up and staying like that for at least 3 minutes. I called Derek up from the basement so he could see. We couldn't believe she was doing it, and moving her head back and forth while looking around the room. I was able to snap a few pictures, they are not very good, but you get the general idea of what she was doing.
7 Weeks Old
Here are some 7 week pictures. I know not a lot really has changed since her 6 week pictures, but that she is definitely smiling more. It's so neat to finally see her smile. I get up most mornings and go to pick her up, and she looks right at me and gives me this big smile, it melts my heart. So here they are ...

First Flower Outing
Since getting our house, each year I look forward to gardening ... I never use to like it, but now I find it quite enjoyable and really relaxing. Last year was the first year I really started getting to know plants and their names (with my mom's help of course) and we ventured all over getting new perennials and annuals to add to my garden. This year was no exception! However we chose the wrong day to go, as it was crazy busy with people buying flowers (I am assuming for mother's day). This was Alexis first experience and this is what she thought of it .....
My First Mother's Day
Happy Mother's Day! It's so neat to be celebrating my first "official" Mother's Day. I hope all the Mother's out there (including our Mother's obviously) have a great day full of pampering from those that love you, and that you are reminded how special you are!

P.S. I wanted to thank my darling daughter and husband for the brand new camera they purchased!! Now I will be able to take LOTS of pictures and not have to change the batteries a hundred times a week! Love you both!

Her First Sleepover
I forgot to mention on here that Alexis had her first 'official' sleepover at her grandparents house a couple weeks back. Derek and I went to a friend's birthday party, and my mom and dad offered to keep her for the night, so I could enjoy my time at the party, and by enjoy my time I mean, have a couple drinks! (it has been 9 months since I'd had one!!!).
At this point Alexis had started to show us how she refuses to go #2 and holds in it for days. At this point she hadn't pooped in 6 days (obviously not as long as her previous bought in which she held it in for 13 days!). But let me tell you, she really did a number at Grandma's!
My mom found the nice little (wasn't really little at all) surprise in her diaper, and realized that it was all over her, everywhere. So while she cleaned up what she could on Alexis, she asked my dad to hold her legs up while she fixed her a bath. While my mom was getting the bath ready she heard my dad say "IT'S STILL COMING OUT!!!" Alexis had christened my mother's lovely towels with her #2. My mom even took pictures of this whole ordeal, but I'm not going to post them on here, as you have already seen what her #2's look like from her 13 day episode.
All in all, I did miss her while I was out, and couldn't wait in the morning to see her again. My mom didn't get much sleep that night between the baby (Alexis is a very noisy sleeper and makes lots of sounds) and their dog. I believe I was at their house showered, changed and ready to go at 8:30 am.

So Alert
Well ... She Did It! She POOPED!!!
After 13 days of not pooping ... Alexis did it ... at Grandma Eddy's house ... and it wasn't pretty. I took her to our family doctor and apparently, its not uncommon for breastfed babies to not "poop" for days on end, and the doctor wasn't really concerned. She said if I was concerned I could buy a suppository from Shoppers and administer it via her hiney if I wanted her to go. Well we didn't need to go and get any, because that night, while visiting her grandparents, Alexis went, and went ... and went ... It may seem weird and a little silly, but we actually
y took pictures. We considered this a "moment" to record ... I will post just one, but I do have many more, if you are a little squeamish you may want to zoom right by this post!
Disclaimer:
* If poop bothers you, I suggest not looking haha! *
