Half Way

We are there. The half way mark. The middle. I can't believe it, my baby is 6 months old. Honestly, she doesn't even look like my once little baby, but a big girl, which is how I usually refer to her now. "Alexis you can do it, you're a big girl now" But she is. Today was her 6 month appointment at the doctors and as her 2 and 4 month appointments ended, she gets 2 shots. To top this all off, she is cutting her two bottom teeth, which we just realized and discovered two days ago, and is fighting her first cold. Ugghh what a little trooper. As usual here are her 6 month stats.

At Six Months Alexis:

  • Weights 18 lbs 11 oz.

  • Is 27.5 inches long

  • Is starting to crawl, as per most babies, she has her own little way of getting around, and Alexis method is quite funny. The whole pushing her bum up and extending her legs out then kicking one leg out from behind her and balancing on her head is quite funny to watch. I think she's going to be a gymnast.
  • Just started cutting her first two teeth (bottom ones) 2 days ago.

  • Has gotten her first cold as well two days ago. Before this she has never had a cold or running nose, and now it seems like her nose is a tap.

  • Babbles and Talks so much. It's really cute and funny, and I'm hoping one day to get it on camera because I think she thinks we know what she's saying.
  • Still loves the jumperoo, what a life saver sometimes

  • Has started solids. So far she has had rice cereal (didn't really care for it), bananas, a taste of watermelon, apple sauce, butternut squash, and peas. She seems to enjoy it but still doesn't know what to do with this new substance in her mouth. Most of it ends up on her bib, hands and face.

  • Is in 6-9 month clothing, although it changes from brands.

  • Still sleeping through the night and usually goes to bed between 9-9:30 p.m.

  • Has dropped a bottle and now gets 4 8 oz. bottles

  • Loves her puppies Noelle and Tucker. She has this great fascination for dogs, and whenever she sees one she always let's out a loud "oooouuuuu"

  • Loves to clap her hands to songs. Right now the songs she is likely to hear are "Isa By'sa" from her Grandma Eddy, and the hockey song by Stompin' Tom that her mom likes to sing to her.

  • Still loving bath time and all her little "friends" a.k.a her rubber sea toys that accompany her. Although she usually ends up sucking on a wash cloth the entire time.
And here she is at 6 months old ... sigh ....

All Things Grow With Time ...

As I sit here watching my daughter play on the floor, I am in awe of how much she is growing, and how fast. It seems as though she's growing in leaps and bounds, I just can't believe it. What once was this tiny little peanut, is now an independent little bundle of joy.

Her new little quirks that seem to have sprung up are what really get me. Sticking out her tongue when she's happy, her little baby babble, her efforts to crawl, and how she's physically changing. It's crazy, and the coolest thing I've ever seen.

Derek and I say time and time again, that we couldn't have been blessed with a better baby. She so easy and content, and goes with the flow its crazy. Although now and again she does show some of her "true colours" for the most part, she's so happy.

Anyways, I was just sitting here on the couch watching her and felt the need to post what I was thinking. She has been such a trooper these last couple of days, travelling, what we thought was her getting one tooth has turned out to be the bottom two, her first cold, and sadly to add to all this she is getting her 6 month shots tomorrow. Awww my poor girl ... but somehow she still smiles and giggles throughout the day.

Amazing.

That's how I can describe the pictures that my friend Sophie took of Alexis last night! She posted them on her blog and made me a cd of them, and they truly are amazing! She has such a gift, and catches all the best things in the people she takes pictures of! Sophie has the ability to take any setting (these were taken in my parents backyard near their shed) and come up with creative ideas. Here are a few teasers that she had for me, once I get the cd, I will mostly likely post more. Thanks again Sophie, you are truly an amazing photographer! We will surely treasure these amazing pictures as Alexis grows up.

Growing Up ...

I wanted to post some recent pictures of Alexis since I hadn't in awhile. I can't believe all the milestones she's hitting, sitting by herself, getting up on all fours, soon we will be starting solids, ahhh where has the time gone.

Taking a Moment to Pause ...

Sorry I've been really slacking on here with the updates! But last week was really busy with my grandparents from Halifax down visiting us for the week. It was great for them to see Alexis' finally!!! and in 17 days we are leaving on a plane for Halifax to visit all of our family out there! Can't wait, but still nervous to take Alexis on the plane!! eeek!!

But I had to post this because it's super hilarious! This was taken tonight. Alexis goes wacky in her jumperoo!!! I'm scared she's going to break the thing (you will see what I mean!). Here it is! and I promise to update more often!!
