My Poor Girl

Well, we are on day 12 of no pooping ... poor Alexis. She isn't constipated because apparently its very hard for breastfed babies to get constipated because breast milk is so easily digested and there is usually little left once their little systems use it all. But 12 days I think is very long, so I made a doctors appointment. What's really sad, is between her goopey eyes that we had to take care of, her 2, 4, and one month appointments, the receptionist actually knows us by name! Hopefully they can help her!

She's Getting Bigger!

I can't believe how much my little Alexis has grown already! Part of me wants her to stay like this forever! Here are some recent pictures.

Fashionista!

My sister often comes over to help during the day and to spend time with Alexis, usually at some point during that time, there is a wardrobe change in Alexis' clothes ... this day, Ashley took her out on a walk, and put her in this outfit. So adorable!

Playtime

I just recently started putting Alexis down on the floor and getting some of her musical play toys out. She seems to really enjoy her musical flower which plays "You are my Sunshine". She watches it intently as its petals light up. She also enjoys her crazy caterpillar that makes different noises and has a mirror on the face. I try to get her to play each day, and so far she enjoys it for a bit, and when she is all done, she begins to whine to let you know. Here are some pictures of her enjoying herself!

1 Month Old

I have to admit, the time is flying. Everyone said it would, but I have no idea how right they were.



At One Month Alexis:

• Weights 9 lbs. 7 oz.
• Is 21 1/4 inches long.
• Wears a size 1 in diapers now (which fits between 8-14 lbs.)
• Is still in newborn size clothing, however she is starting to be too big for them and is fitting into some 0-3 month clothing.
• Her hair is starting to lighten up, and continue to grow at the back but not on top.
• Is eating 4 oz of breast milk from a bottle
• Usually eats anywhere between 3-4.5 hours
• Sleeps from anywhere between 2-5 hours
• Loves her vibrating swing, and mommy is very thankful for that! She loves to be turned towards the t.v. and watches all the colours.
• Smiles a lot, but not at anyone, just when she is gassy.
• Likes to pee once her diaper is undone, and usually get's it all over her outfit.
• Bath time is hit and miss. Sometimes she enjoys it, and others she doesn't, she does not enjoy being cold or naked at all.
• Loves her little feet massaged. She curls her toes up on your finger when you are rubbing them.
• Loves car rides, and usually falls asleep from the motion.
• Will lie on the floor and pretend that she likes playing, but usually get's bored very soon and will begin to whine.

She Loves Being Outside!

Not only does Alexis seem to love car rides and buggy rides (which all put her to sleep) but she enjoys sleeping outside! Here is a picture taken yesterday (April 10.09) at my Uncle and Aunt's house for our Easter. Alexis slept outside for 4 hours! She loved the fresh air, and it must have done her good because she slept last night for me for 5 hours straight!

Busy Girl

This is a video Ashley took of Alexis kicking and moving around.  It's rare footage of her actually awake.  She has times throughout the day where she is really awake, and then those times (usually more so after she eats) where she's dead to the world.

Video of Alexis in Hospital - Hiccups

I took this video one late, late night when Alexis was restless and wouldn't sleep - obviously because she had the hiccups. I thought it was so cute, and its crazy because she usually gets the hiccups every time after she finishes a bottle, and the last 2 weeks that I was pregnant she had the hiccups everyday. Hopefully the video works, its my first time attaching a video on here!

2 Week Doctor Check-Up

We just got back from the doctor's this morning, and Alexis is doing great! The doctor was really pleased with her weight gain and how she's looking!  

She now weight's 8 lbs. 5 oz. and is 22 inches long!  She's growing like a weed!  Her belly button is looking good, she just has a little bit of umbilical cord 'gunk' left on it.  She also has moved up from the baby Swaddlers to the size 1, as I found the Swaddlers were cutting in to her legs and leaving marks on them.

I'm really excited to see her grow, and sad at the same time, as I want to keep her this small forever! She is starting to fit into some more of her clothes, other than the preemie onesie pajamas that she seems to live in since nothing else fits her.

Finally a Nice Day to get Outside!

We finally had nice weather today (+14 degrees) so Ashley and I took this opportunity to go for a nice walk and break in the new stroller.  We decided to stop by the daycare so all my kids (from work) could see Alexis.

The kids were so excited to finally see 'Allison's baby', it was really cute!  Anyways, here are some pictures from our walk!

Public Health Nurse Visit

On Monday we had a public health nurse come to visit at the house, just to answer any questions we had and she would check Alexis out.

It was a really great meeting, she was super nice to start off with and she was able to answer all my questions (I had a half a sheet of paper of questions).  She weighed Alexis and we found that she is now 7 lbs. 10 oz. which is great.  She said baby's should be gaining an ounce a day, and so Alexis was right on target.  She was really please with everything and gave me some good advice since I am pumping and was feeling kind of guilty about it.  It really put my mind at ease that I knew Alexis was getting enough food and apparently growing like a weed!  By Saturday she could be 8 lbs already!!!!  It's so hard to believe!

I think Alexis is also going through a growth spurt these last couple of days, which they said is normal around the 2 week mark.  She has been wanting to eat more often and closer together compared to when she first came home.  Oh I wish she could stay this small forever!!!
