For the Love of Fall

This is my favourite time of the year! I love the weather changing where you can be comfortable in pants and a sweatshirt, the leaves turn beautiful colours and are crunchy under your feet, but most of all I love to decorate for Fall!

Here is our mantel down in our family room this year. You will notice we have changed around furniture, gotten rid of some, and got some new pieces.

(Nevermind the fact there are no knobs on our dresser - as you can see I'm still trying to decide on them)

Love this owl garland that spells out "Autum"! Got it at the Supertore of all places for $4! What a steal!

Gettin' Our Roll On ...

Back again with some updated pictures and some that have been on my camera and I totally forgot about! Eeeeekk bad blogger! Bad blogger!

So not sure if I had mentioned before but since we got rid of our old patio and the stones (thanks to Derek's parents - thank you!!!) we needed to get some sod for the big old mud pit that was left behind. Quite frankly I was sick and tired of mud being tracked through the house!

So off we went to Lowe's and picked up some of their sod. Can I just say what a transformation sod can have on a backyard! Behold ...

My dad of course came over to "supervise" ... haha just kidding Dad! He did in fact help.

And miracles of miracles it looks like this two weeks later ...

We still have to work on the seams but overall we are happy with the progress!

Yes Derek, you made it onto the blog again :) (he asked me while I was taking this picture if I was going to publish it on the blog lol)

Privacy fence is up and done.

Patio stones are gone thanks to Derek's parents (thank you!) and once the deck is done we will be putting in some sod. There are a couple patio stones that we left to go under the boat so it doesn't wreck the grass and if we ever decide to have fire one nice we can switch out the boat for the fire pit.

Just need to get that gate up. Check out our ghetto wood stopper thingy so the pooch doesn't escape on us!

I know I'm not doing much of this manual labour - but I can't wait for this to be done! I don't do well with construction and the mess gives me anxiety lol!

Surprised to See an Update Here?

Sorry dear Blog that I have neglected you. I could tell you that I haven't had anything to post because of the following reasons ...

1) When I was sick I didn't want to do anything during the spare time I had at night but lay around ...
2) Alexis refuses to let me take pictures of her without stopping what she is doing and running towards me like a sumo wrestler for the camera ...
3) Since we have had such nice weather I've been doing stuff around the outside of the house ....
4) Some days I'm just not inspired to blog ... is that so wrong? ....

But would you believe me? Honestly these are all true. Bit look out ... new pictures and updates are a comin'!

So ... what have you all been up too?

Well Lookie Lookie.

I went around the house today to water my indoor plants while Alexis napped, and look what I found when I popped open our little veggie plants ...

These our our tomato plants which have seemed to grow crazy this past week! I should have taken a picture of what they looked like this past weekend, because I moved them Saturday before the party and I'm not kidding when I say they were half the size!

So I'm not really sure what I do with them now. I'm so use to growing them in the little cups that you can buy, and in them they grow straight. Rest assured I will be googling tonight to see what to do.

But what the heck has happened to our peppers?

I know they ARE growing, but I guess they take more time then the tomatoes.  Oh well. So this is the progress so far on our little veggie garden adventure!

New Bed ... New Bedding.

Since getting Ed the Bed we obviously had to get some new bedding - using the Queen size sheets just wasn't going to happen haha! So here's what the old love shack room looks like now ...

Can I just say that I love this pattern ... I would have it all over my house if I could!

P.S. - Don't mind the wrinkles ... that's just how we roll here ...

Super Bug.

Sorry I haven't posted anything in awhile. This past weekend we were hit with the super bug of flu's. When I say "super bug" I'm not kidding. This thing kicked the crap out all of us - my family included! But we are on the mend now - however I'm still catching up on sleep - I hadn't slept from Saturday night until a couple hours Monday night (between getting up with Alexis, cleaning her sheets and changing her clothes, giving her numerous baths to clean her off) ... uuuggghh it was something that I wish upon no one. But we are on the mend, and Derek and I successfully disinfected the entire house! Amen for Lysol wipes and spray!

So naturally I don't have anything new on here. No pictures or anything cute. Since spending an entire day on the couch, unable to sleep, I looked into getting some more ideas and things for Alexis' birthday party.  I'm excited however I think the whole "dog theme" may have been a mistake. It's super hard to find stuff for it! I'm going to have to put on my "crafty hat" (seriously did I just write that?) and figure some stuff out! Hopefully I will be able to gather some stuff and do an updated post on what I got planned - you guys should know by now how into the whole planning of her parties I get right?
