I Love Food ...

I love pictures where she has food all over her face, like she bathed in it. Alexis is a messy eater no doubt about it. Here is just a random picture taken of her mid meal, and it just so happens to be her favourite - blueberries.

Just thought I would post a couple pictures of our very active 8 month old. Here she is standing at her toy basket picking out toys.

8 Months

All of us are just in awe of how big Lexi is getting. She's more active now than I've ever seen her! I love this stage, she imitates sounds we make and she has these quirky little faces, its too funny, and yet she can't talk back to us ha ha! She's becoming more daring, I swear that the child has no fear what so ever, from scaling walls and doors, to walking up and down holding on to the couch. Just the other day we found her sitting on top of her big diaper box. We may be in trouble ha ha. Anyways here are her 8 months stats.



At 8 Months Alexis:

• Has moved into the big size 4 diapers.


• Imitates sounds we make lion her hilarious lion sound.
  
• Will eat any baby food we give her, but yet still isn't sure about big people food.


• Loves her bath time, she splashes and sucks up half the tub water with her wash cloth, but she's always so happy in it.


• Still is sleeping great! Can't complain there!


• Moved into her big girl car seat! That's right, we officially retired the baby seat, and Alexis is now a "big girl" at least that's what we tell her.


• Loves her walks. With all the nice weather we still are having in November, we walk as often as we can, and she loves it! She watches the birds and squirrels.


• Plays shy? That's right ... when she meets someone new she does this head tilting to the side thing, really funny and cute!


• Finally her hair is growing! I don't really notice it as much as other people, but it is definitely growing and getting thicker.


• Loves all her toys but think she may be the only 8 month old with her own cell phone and laptop haha (all were broken and hand me downs from her aunt Ashley).
  

I took these pictures today and all of the faces she is making in them are genuine. She posed herself with these wacky little smirks and saucy smiles as I snapped the picture. Quite funny. It's amazing to me to go back and look at her one month post and see how far she has come!

Hello Santa!

Tonight was Derek's work's child Christmas party. It was a fun night at Adventures on Wonderland, although Alexis didn't really do much playing. We did take her to the 5 and under room, where she went down the slide a couple times, hung out in the ball pit, and of course leave it to her to find the musical piano keys. We were not sure how she would do with meeting Santa, but she did really well, never cried and just sort of watched Santa. Here are some pictures from the night, she's a tired girl ...

We had the ever amazing Sophie take some family pictures of us this past Sunday, some for our Christmas cards and some just becuase we don't have a lot of family pictures, usually due to the fact that one of us is taking the picture. We can't thank Sophie enough for taking time from her Sunday to come and meet us to do these so THANKS SOPH!!!

Before I Was A Mom ...

BEFORE I WAS A MOM ...

Before I was a Mom, I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.

I didn ' t worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.

I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom, I had never been puked on.

Pooped on.

Chewed on.

Peed on.

I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts. I

slept all night.

Before I was a Mom, I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.

Or give shots.

I never looked into teary eyes and cried.

I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.

I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom, I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn ' t want to put her down.

I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn ' t stop the hurt.

I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.

I never knew that I could love someone so much.

I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom, I didn ' t know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.

I didn ' t know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.

I didn ' t know that bond between a mother and her child.

I didn ' t know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom, I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.

I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.

I didn ' t know I was capable of feeling so much,

Happy Halloween!

Hope everyone enjoyed their Halloween! I know Alexis did! I think she made an adorable little ladybug! Here are her pictures!

She's BOO-utiful!

Boo Boo ...

So Alexis had her first REAL accident a week ago today. While I was putting away her dinner dishes, my daughter who loves to explore now, pulled a old fashioned metal iron down on her thumb. Immediately her thumb swelled up and her nail was all white. I was extremely upset at myself, could not believe what had happened. The next couple of days were not much better. The nail turned completely black (blood underneath) and her thumb was really red and swollen. Wednesday my mom took me and her to the doctors so they could look at it and make sure it was not broken. The doctor checked it out and said it was really swollen, but that she would not know the extent of the damage to the nail until it (the nail) either grew more or fell off. Great .... no nail. She said the worst case scenario would be that the nail would not grow back. And I was devastated once again! Thursday it started to look a little better, less swollen, but still black, blue and red. Then Friday while hanging out with her Aunt Ashley, she noticed it was bleeding a bit. The blood that was all stuck under her nail slowly came out, and within hours, the nail looks so much better. Even a week later and the nail is back to its original colour and is less swollen. I know this will not be the last time she hurts herself, but as a mother you cannot help but feel bad when they hurt themselves.

7 Months ... Really ....

Ahhhh! I know this is really late ... but I can't stop now! Alexis is growing like a weed, scroll down below to find out what she's doing this month!

At 7 Months Alexis is:

• Crawling, crawling, and more crawling! The child doesn't stop, and she is sooo curious about everything!


• Pulling herself up on the couches, tables, stairs. Oh yes, 3 weeks after learning to crawl, my dare-devil daughter has decided that she will also throw into the mix of pulling herself up. She clearly isn't afraid of anything (unlike her mother) as she holds onto the couch with one hand, while waving the other around in the air. No fear at all.


• Still loves toys that make noises and light up. I've given in and we now have a small collection of musical toys. She is quite fond of them, and they seem to intrigue her for a couple minutes anyways haha.


• Had her first real accident last week. Pulled a heavy metal door stopper down on her thumb, which immediately swelled and turned black and dark blue with blood all under her nail. Poor thing, after a day though she was back to normal, while her poor mom was still saddened by the accident - however the nail is back to normal and looks pretty good.


• Had some yogurt for the first time the day after she turned 7 months old. Didn't love it, but didn't hate it either.


• We had to move her crib down to the lowest level as Alexis enjoys now pulling herself up and bouncing around in her crib. She doesn't cry when she wants us to know she's awake, she likes to bang on her crib and throw her soother on the floor.


• Enjoyed her first Halloween and was an adorable ladybug if I do say so.


• Moved out of her infant car seat and into her "big girl" carseat, as we call it. She's riding in style now!
