We Made It!

Alexis did amazing at her doctor's appointment. She cried for the second needle but as soon as I picked her up she was fine! Smiles even! The appointment was great. Alexis weights 16 lbs 13 oz (90th percentile) and she is 25.5" inches long (also 90th percentile). The doctor said she looked great and was right where she was suppose to be. She was also impressed with her ability to roll (she tried a couple times to roll right off the table) and hold her head up. The doctor advised us that she may start to play strange with people, but I told her we have already experienced this, so it wasn't anything new. I did manage to take a couple pictures of her before the shots and I will put the on here when I get a chance.

4 Months ...

Alexis' 4 month shots are tomorrow and I am d.r.e.a.d.i.n.g. it! I wish Derek would be there, but he has to work and can't get the time off. Well, its going to be a learning experience for sure. I am taking my camera once again, in hopes to snap a picture, as I see this as a life event for Alexis, and why shouldn't it be documented like every other milestone that she has accomplished? We will see if I am able to snap any pictures! I will be back tomorrow with the update on how it went...

First BUBBLE Bath

So this was Alexis' first bubble bath. I've never put bubbles in it before so I thought this would be interesting since she really enjoys her baths now, but often moves around A LOT on me in the small little tub. I thought the bubbles would distract her while I quickly wash her down. She seemed to like them, but didn't really help with the wiggling haha. I can see us switching to using our regular bath tub soon, she just won't stay still in this thing!

Mommy Being Silly

Happy Girl

I'm so glad we have such a happy little girl, who loves to play, talk, and cuddle!

Look What I Can Do

Alexis has found her feet and toes! We often find her laying on the ground either on her tummy or in this position!

4 Months Old = Little Person

Alexis is 4 months old today, and I keep saying to Derek, she isn't looking like a baby anymore but like a little person. When she stands up holding our fingers, it reminds me that she isn't going to be this small for very long, and how much she has grown and changed in 4 months. It's gone by so fast, but I've cherished every single second of it! We can't believe all the amazing things she can do now, she's truly amazing! Here are her stats for 4 months.

At Four Months Old Alexis:
  • Weighs (I will fill this in after next Tuesday when we come back from the doctors)

  • Eats 4-5 6oz. bottles a day of formula and 1 oz breast milk.

  • Sleeps through the night! She usually goes to bed between 9:30-10:30 and will wake us up while babbling to herself between 6:30-7:30.

  • Still likes her naps, she usually has a couple during the day and they can be anywhere from 20 mins. long to 2 hours ... all depends on what Alexis feels like.

  • Holds her head up like a champ! No needing our help there!

  • Is rolling over! She did this for the first time July 15, and hasn't stopped since. It's really funny because she can only roll from her back to her tummy, but once on her tummy she doesn't know what to do and usually ends up whining till someone comes and helps her. Poor girl.

  • Grasps things with her fingers.

  • Focuses on you when you are talking, and knows her name. I've found she often watches us eat, which is funny.

  • Still enjoys having a good old conversation with you, she enjoys showing everyone how high she can yell and squeal. Vocal cords definitely work!

  • Still puts EVERYTHING in her mouth, I really don't know why I bother sterilizing her stuff anyways when anything she touches goes in her mouth ... ANYTHING! But her main things are her fingers, and she enjoys "gumming" my fingers.

  • Loves her toys! She loves grabbing them, hitting them, drooling on them, sticking them in her mouth, the odd time she has hit herself in the head with them while whaling them around. She just loves to play.

  • Likes her walks. She likes to sit up in her stroller now and look around outside while we are walking with her.

  • is a DROOL monster! I swear she's going to be the "messy" kid, she always is drooling. I picked up a toy the other day and drool was falling off of it, it was disgusting .. she had literally soaked the toy with drool. What a girl ...

  • Likes to lay on her back and grab her toes. When she first started to do this I thought it was so cute, just watching her roll back and forth holding her little feet.

And the Little One Said ... Roll Over, Roll Over ...

I can't believe it, but ... our little girl is rolling now! I said to Derek last night, its like she's not a baby anymore, but a teeny tiny little person! I'm just amazed at how fast she caught on to this whole rolling thing! It started with rolling to her side, then Derek or I would sort of roll her onto her tummy, then wouldn't you know it, yesterday I had her laying on a blanket on the floor, and went to the kitchen to grab something, I was gone maybe 20 seconds and when I came back ... the little stinker was on her tummy. I had to take a moment and re-trace my thoughts and determine if she was on her back when I left (since I haven't been able to kick this pregnancy brain yet), and she was. I wanted to catch it on film, but every time I get the old video camera out all she does is stare at it, and laugh. I managed to get a couple pictures of her in the act, obviously though they won't compare to actually seeing her do it on video, but until she let's me these will have to do!

- Enjoy

I think she's thinking ... "I really want that toy!"

Rolling to the side like Mommy and Daddy showed her

"Well ... here I go ..." She had a hard time a first getting over that one arm.

"Did I make it?"

"Well that wasn't so hard ..."

Mini Photo-Shoot (3.5 Months Old)

My good friend from work Sophie, kindly offered to come over and take some pictures of Alexis for us. Alexis was a great sport, and did surprisingly well. She wasn't too fussy, offered lots of smiles, and Sophie was able to get some really great shots of her! I am really happy with what she was able to capture! All the pictures were taken in our backyard, Soph brought along some props and backdrops which was cool, and we ended up with great pictures to remember Alexis at this time! I really love the drooly pictures because that's so Alexis right now haha.

Thanks so much again Sophie! We love them!

- Enjoy

P.S. There will be a follow up shoot to try and get even more pictures! Can't wait!

Here are some newer pictures to hold you over!

- Enjoy

Got to love naked time outside!

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile, I've had some other things going on (tisk tisk). But I thought I would give you the update on whats been going on here. Alexis is starting to 'try' to roll over. She rolls to either side no problem, its getting over the one arm and onto her tummy that she is struggling with, poor girl. She's still SUPER drooly! My mom felt a little bump on her gum that we think is a tooth. I'm not saying she's teething but there is one there, it could come out soon or wait till 7 months, who knows, but apparently Derek got teeth quite early too, where as I was around 1 and got my first one haha.

We are going on a trip in September!! I am excited and nervous to go on a plane with Alexis, but we are heading to Halifax so my Dad's side of the family can meet Alexis, and we are going on Sept. 18th, 2 days before she will be 6 months old. I must admit, I am scared of how its going to go, but I really want to take her there, AND Derek is coming too! I've always wanted him to go there with me because its soooo beautiful and love the water ... so it should be good. No I haven't' started to pack, but yes I have started a list haha, I'm a loser I know, but I'm an organized loser!

Well that's pretty much all that's new, I have some newer pictures of Alexis, with her Sophie the giraffe ... I will explain when the pictures go up, and some other ones, hopefully tomorrow I can get them up on here since Derek has the day off! Yay!

- Oh I almost forgot, I am also having a friend come over tomorrow morning (Sophie) to take "artistic/professional" pictures of Alexis, and you know you're good Soph! So I am excited to see how they turn out! I will post them when I get them from her.

Take Care Everyone!
