First Flower Outing

Since getting our house, each year I look forward to gardening ... I never use to like it, but now I find it quite enjoyable and really relaxing. Last year was the first year I really started getting to know plants and their names (with my mom's help of course) and we ventured all over getting new perennials and annuals to add to my garden. This year was no exception! However we chose the wrong day to go, as it was crazy busy with people buying flowers (I am assuming for mother's day). This was Alexis first experience and this is what she thought of it .....

My First Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day! It's so neat to be celebrating my first "official" Mother's Day. I hope all the Mother's out there (including our Mother's obviously) have a great day full of pampering from those that love you, and that you are reminded how special you are!

P.S. I wanted to thank my darling daughter and husband for the brand new camera they purchased!! Now I will be able to take LOTS of pictures and not have to change the batteries a hundred times a week! Love you both!

Her First Sleepover

I forgot to mention on here that Alexis had her first 'official' sleepover at her grandparents house a couple weeks back. Derek and I went to a friend's birthday party, and my mom and dad offered to keep her for the night, so I could enjoy my time at the party, and by enjoy my time I mean, have a couple drinks! (it has been 9 months since I'd had one!!!).

At this point Alexis had started to show us how she refuses to go #2 and holds in it for days. At this point she hadn't pooped in 6 days (obviously not as long as her previous bought in which she held it in for 13 days!). But let me tell you, she really did a number at Grandma's!

My mom found the nice little (wasn't really little at all) surprise in her diaper, and realized that it was all over her, everywhere. So while she cleaned up what she could on Alexis, she asked my dad to hold her legs up while she fixed her a bath. While my mom was getting the bath ready she heard my dad say "IT'S STILL COMING OUT!!!" Alexis had christened my mother's lovely towels with her #2. My mom even took pictures of this whole ordeal, but I'm not going to post them on here, as you have already seen what her #2's look like from her 13 day episode.

All in all, I did miss her while I was out, and couldn't wait in the morning to see her again. My mom didn't get much sleep that night between the baby (Alexis is a very noisy sleeper and makes lots of sounds) and their dog. I believe I was at their house showered, changed and ready to go at 8:30 am.

6 Week Pictures

At 6 Weeks Your Baby Should be Able to:

  • Lift her head when held to your body
  • Lift her head and chest when placed on her stomach for ‘tummy time’
  • Turn her head from side to side when lying on her stomach
  • Follow a moving object or person with her eyes within a limited range of vision
  • Hold her hands open or loosely fisted
  • Grasp a rattle or small toy
  • Wiggle and kick out with her arms and legs.
  • Turn her head toward bright lights
  • Turn her head toward the sound of your voice
  • Recognize her bottle
  • Respond to your shaking a rattle or bell nearby
  • Make cooing or gurgling sounds
  • Smile in response to your smile (every parent’s favorite moment!)
  • Communicate her hunger, fear, or discomfort (through crying or through her facial expressions)
  • React to ‘Peek-a-boo’ games
Here are some pictures of Alexis taken at 6 weeks. She's getting soo big!

Big Smiles!

So Alert

I thought it would be interesting to show how much she has grown so far ... the first picture is her first week, and the second is her most recent. She's so much more alert!

She LOVES bath time now!

Here are some recent pictures of bath time, which Alexis now enjoys! Thank goodness!!

Well ... She Did It! She POOPED!!!

After 13 days of not pooping ... Alexis did it ... at Grandma Eddy's house ... and it wasn't pretty. I took her to our family doctor and apparently, its not uncommon for breastfed babies to not "poop" for days on end, and the doctor wasn't really concerned. She said if I was concerned I could buy a suppository from Shoppers and administer it via her hiney if I wanted her to go. Well we didn't need to go and get any, because that night, while visiting her grandparents, Alexis went, and went ... and went ... It may seem weird and a little silly, but we actually

y took pictures. We considered this a "moment" to record ... I will post just one, but I do have many more, if you are a little squeamish you may want to zoom right by this post!
