And its that time of the month again, when my heart starts to sink as I realize my baby is getting older and bigger each day. Even though I love this stage that she's at, I also miss my teeny tiny wee little baby. Each day she's showing us more new "talents" she's acquiring, and what a big girl she is. Ahhh ... well on to her 5 month stats. At Five Months Old Alexis:- Is back to sleeping though the night (thank God!!!) and is usually up around 7:30, unless of course it's her father's turn to get up and then she likes to sleep in till 8:30am
- Is wearing size 3 diapers! They are a little roomy, but the 2's were leaving marks on her tummy.
- Eats every 3 hours which is about 5 bottles and she get's 6.5 oz per bottle. Strictly formula now, and she has adapted quite well!
- Has mastered how to roll from her front and just this week started to roll from her tummy back onto her back, yay!
- Is in looooovvveee with Noelle and Tucker! She often tries to stretch her hand out to pet them as they pass her by. Noelle just cracks her up, she giggles every time she see's her!
- Is still pretty drooly, but no teeth yet. Loves to chew just about anything, fingers (doesn't matter who's they are), toys, books, clothing, it's all good to her.
- Has found her toes, and loves to hold them and often tries to stick her big toe in her mouth when she's on her back. It's pure comedy.
- Loves to watch us eat and drink. We recently put together her highchair so she can sit in the kitchen and watch us while we make dinner. During the day if I am making baby food, her and I play cooking show. She loves to watch what we are doing!
- Laughs and giggles! It's adorable, I really do have to get it on video. Her laugh is something else, it doesn't even sound like a laugh.
- Has a bath in the big tub now since she has outgrown the baby bath tub. At first it was awkward for me, but now we have the hang of it and she loves it. She often tries to suck the bath tub water from the side, its her new thing. We caught it on video so one night I'm going to try to put it on here.
- Loves her jumperoo for a little bit. Not long though, 20 mins. at max. But its still nice to see her having fun and enjoying it!
- Has this new thing where she sticks her tongue out for all her pictures, you will see what I mean!
(Pictures to follow)
But .... I can make baby food! Whether or not Alexis enjoys it is another story. I decided to start making baby food to freeze for Alexis. I had thought about whether or not to buy jarred food or make my own, and I thought I would give it a whirl first. Yesterday I made pureed carrots, and they didn't turn out too bad, that I can tell. It was quite easy and made quite a bit! I figure if I make it now and freeze it, all I have to do when it comes time for Alexis to try it, is pull out a frozen cube and let it thaw out . Much more healthy since I know what's in it, and saves money! I've heard that jarred food can add up and become quite pricey. So for now, I'll make my own. Next up, I plan to do peas, peas & carrots, and squash. One of the mommies I know did a whole whack of food including blueberries and nectarines! Here are some pictures of the process.
Dear Alexis,
You'll never know how much I love you, but my darling daughter 4:30 a.m. is not morning. It is in fact still dark outside, and the birds are not chirping. You are a big girl now, and don't necessarily need to see Mommy that soon.
Love,
Mommy xo
Alexis did amazing at her doctor's appointment. She cried for the second needle but as soon as I picked her up she was fine! Smiles even! The appointment was great. Alexis weights 16 lbs 13 oz (90th percentile) and she is 25.5" inches long (also 90th percentile). The doctor said she looked great and was right where she was suppose to be. She was also impressed with her ability to roll (she tried a couple times to roll right off the table) and hold her head up. The doctor advised us that she may start to play strange with people, but I told her we have already experienced this, so it wasn't anything new. I did manage to take a couple pictures of her before the shots and I will put the on here when I get a chance.
Alexis' 4 month shots are tomorrow and I am d.r.e.a.d.i.n.g. it! I wish Derek would be there, but he has to work and can't get the time off. Well, its going to be a learning experience for sure. I am taking my camera once again, in hopes to snap a picture, as I see this as a life event for Alexis, and why shouldn't it be documented like every other milestone that she has accomplished? We will see if I am able to snap any pictures! I will be back tomorrow with the update on how it went...
So this was Alexis' first bubble bath. I've never put bubbles in it before so I thought this would be interesting since she really enjoys her baths now, but often moves around A LOT on me in the small little tub. I thought the bubbles would distract her while I quickly wash her down. She seemed to like them, but didn't really help with the wiggling haha. I can see us switching to using our regular bath tub soon, she just won't stay still in this thing!'Bracing' Herself?

Mommy Being Silly

I'm so glad we have such a happy little girl, who loves to play, talk, and cuddle!
