So Kind ...

Our awesome real estate agent Tracey came over yesterday unexpectedly, and brought us an amazing "thank you" gift.  Its amazing ... and I'm a sucker for flowers.  We gave her a tour of the house and she was amazed (her words not mine) by how much we have gotten done here.  After she left I got the "urge" to do something else to the house ... painting something ... remove something that wasn't needed ... organize something ... however those urges were quickly put to rest as a rambunctious 14 month old came barrelling down the stairs after a much needed nap.
This weekend is pretty free so I am going to do my best to finish painting in the kitchen ... then I'm skipping painting trim and doors for now ... and heading straight to the bathroom (you will see why soon!).

So for now, after a very quiet weekend full of visiting with friends and family, here are some pictures of the beautiful flowers that our agent brought over.

Enjoy!

Since we had a fabulous long weekend, I thought I would share some pictures of it. Alexis had such a great time gardening with mommy and grandma, enjoyed her first swim, and even enjoyed her first "messy" ice-cream cone! Take a look, and we hope you all had a fabulous long weekend as well!

Family Room

Second blog post on the house tour takes us to our much loved family room! This I think for both Derek and I was the reason we chose the house. We absolutely LOVED this room. As soon as I saw it, I instantly thought of roaring fires and snuggling on the couches ... Christmas time with stockings hung and our Christmas tree all lite up in the corner with presents under it. I think this will be the heart of our house, even when our kids are older.

We did a lot to this room, by ripping out the horrible mustard yellow shag carpet that was here, painted the walls a light, soft brown, and installed dark espresso laminate. We would have loved to put hardwood down here as well, but they don't suggest that since this room is below ground level. So laminate it was, and I personally believe it looks like hardwood since Derek and his dad did install it the way you would hardwood.

The stairs were uncovered as well from the hideous shag, and I sanded them down. I am going to paint them white then stain the treads I think. When I get time haha!

Anyways I hope you enjoy this post! After looking at all the pictures on here while I was uploading them, I think I need to add some more lightness to the room ... hmmmmm project :P haha!

And the reason we bought the place (besides more space obviously)

A little nook that's down here .. I wasn't sure what to do with it, so we put Alexis' toy shelf for now. I would LOVE to switch out the fabric storage squares for square baskets at IKEA but at $24.99 a pop ... I think Derek would have a heart attack lol!

Half bath that isn't finished yet ... but I have BIG plans for this room!!!

* Just a note as well ... you may notice that the half bath and the door down to the 4th level are different. We are in the midst of changing all the doors to the 6 panel ones, and Derek only had enough time this weekend to change the one on the half bath, so that's why its got the new door and new handles.

Can't Kick It

Again, I am at home with my sick baby girl. I was called at work today to come and get Alexis. She had a fever of 101.4. Thank goodness I was able to find a supply and was able to be on my way to pick her up. I just don't know what's going on with her. This past weekend was brutal with her, as Friday and Saturday night she woke up at 2:30 am. This may have been find a couple years ago, but now with Alexis, we find ourselves ready for bed most nights at 10 or 10:30 ... sad? yes .. this is the life of new parents haha.

So I'm sitting at home with Alexis, and she seems to have spurts of energy followed by a complete and utter melt down shortly after. Thankfully we also scored a doctors appointment for her tonight, so hopefully the doctor can sort this out. She's already on medication for a supposed ear infection, so who knows what she's got now. Poor girl, I feel bad, because she can't tell us what hurts or what's wrong ... and even though I know we are doing the best we can, I still feel bad and helpless when I just sit and watch her cry because she doesn't know what she wants or needs.

So because I'm home, when the little darling falls asleep I will be uploading some pictures of the next room that I was prepared to put up here since it's pretty much done. So that will be up this afternoon.

Ciao!
