Table for Two?

I've had this table and chairs in my possession for a couple years, but they use to live at my grandmothers house. I can remember being really young at her house and playing, painting and crafting at this table. Then we inherited and I had it in the nursery before Alexis was even born at the old house. Since we've moved we were able to keep it in her play room. But since we're making some changes and sprucing it up down there, I thought I could do a little something something to the table.

I didn't want to paint the whole thing, as its too sentimental to me, so I thought I could add a little paint here and there and it would at least tie it in with the room.

The chairs have lots of old paint on them, and chips and nicks ... so this whole project wasn't going to have to be perfect by any means ...

First I used one of the letters I had cut out for the wall downstairs, then lightly traced it (I just used a pen) onto the chair seat.

Then just using some arcylic purple craft paint that I purchased at the dollar store, I filled in the letter.

The finished product looked something like this ...

and allllll together, the little table and chairs now looks like this ...

This weekend I'm just going to give the seat a quick spray of sealer so that the paint doesn't chip, and that's it.  I still plan on doing something to the table but haven't decided yet what exactly to do.

Love Me Some Ceramic Flowers

I heart ceramic flowers ... especially this new silver one that I picked up at Homesense.

It seems that I have quite the little stash now. They are just so darn cute!

I may need an intervention.

Goodwill Bargoons ...

During lunch today, to get away from work, my friend Sophie and I decided to head to Goodwill to check and see if we could find any "treasures" (I think that's what I called them). I found three things and without breaking the bank, was pretty happy with my purchases!

Found these two solid wood candle holders - complete with a sharp little pin to keep the candles from falling over or moving around. I plan on painting these a nice colour which I think I'm going to try to add to the basement ... stayed tuned for the before and after of these babies!

Can't go wrong with the $1.99 price tag for them either ... I thought it was a good deal!

I have also been in love with milk glass for years. My mom has this huge cookie jar that's milk glass and I love it! I believe it was my grandmother's at one point. Anyways, I found tons of milk glass vases and little dishes there today, but settled on this simple but cute one ... I think I could put some fake greenery in it, or even snacks ... but I couldn't pass it up.

I love the little nubs on it.

At least for now, I found a really good use for the bowl ... holding all my taffy!

Love Me Some Taffy!

My parents happened to be visiting my grandparents in Halifax this past week, and the one thing I told my mom to bring back .... was ...

That's right, some salt water taffy! If you've never had this deliciousness, you need to get hooked up with some.

Mmmmm I love, and of course right after I took this picture, I devoured this piece.

Dolla-Dolla Store Finds ...

Just happened to find these beauties in the dollar store. I've passed them by a couple of times that I had been in there ... then finally just picked the suckers up. I think they will look really nice with some chunky pillar candles on them ... plus they are solid (and I mean solid) glass. Anyways, if you see them, pick them up.

Like Father ... Like Daughter

Yes she is still in her jammies, and hasn't had her hair brushed. That's how we roll here ...

Happy Half Birthday Baby Girl!
I haven't done this in awhile, but I thought since it is her one and half year milestone, it was kind of fitting ... so here's what Alexis can do at one and a half:

  • Weights around 24 pounds (give or take - we had her weighed last time she had an ear infection)
  • Is right handed no doubt about it.
  • Can say "Mama" "Dada" "NO!" "Pup pup" "Yes" "Bubba" "Ucker" (translation - Tucker) "Night night", "Nana" (as in the person), "Nana" (as in the fruit), "Kaaaaa" (Coco her stuffy), "Essa" (Baby Tessa), "Ema" (Grandma), and "Papa"
  • Understands generally most of our commands - like if we say "go and get your shoe and sock" she will grab them.
  • Speaking of shoes ... she LOVES them and I fear has an addiction for them .. but not just shoes .. she loves slippers as well!
  • Does NOT like the vacuum. She is terrified of it and will point and insists that it goes away, back in the closet.
  • Loves her bath time and her bubble blowing
  • Has had an ear infection 5 times, and 2 colds since starting daycare in March.
  • Has 10 teeth 11 teeth (Just checked today - and what I thought was a cold starting, turns out to be teething ... oh the joys!)
  • Loves to play with her toys
  • Loves to play around with mommy and daddy on the floor
  • Isn't interested in t.v. at all ... unless its got some good music playing on it.
  • Loves to dance around ... which includes spinning around until she falls over.
  • Is a creature of habit- She loves her night time routine and things at night need to happen in the same order every.single.night.
  • Still sleeps in her crib and has yet to figure out how to get out of it - and yet she some how knows how to take all those little plug protectors out of the electrical sockets ... so I'm sure any day now we will wake up with her starring at us at the foot of the bed!
  • Her favourite songs include: row row row your boat and ring around the rosy
So there's a little update on some of the things Alexis has accomplished or is still accomplishing. Love you so much baby girl!
