1st Birthday

So as I mentioned earlier, that Alexis' birthday was a hoot! It's unfortunate that we were not in the new house - we could have waited, but I wanted her to have her first birthday party on her actual birthday. So the day was great! I had decorated the night before with the help of my sister, and she also helped with the cupcakes and food, which I appreciated! Thanks Ash!

We had invited aroun 20 something family and friends to celebrate her birthday with. It was a little crowded (who am I kidding - I know everyone it was REALLY crowded but I think we made due). Alexis was spoiled rotten with clothes, toys, and books! Really you all spoiled her too much!
At the end of the day, it was great to celebrate with everyone, we really appreciate you all coming and sharing this special day with Alexis! Thanks again everyone!

Here are some pictures the wonderful Sophie took so that I didn't need to worry about taking! Thanks Soph!

HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY ALEXIS!!!

Love,

Daddy & Mommy

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

I have some video's I want to post on here as soon as I get them off my camera and then start the ever daunting task of uploading them - which in all fairness takes F.O.R.E.V.E.R!

I've been sort of slacking on here due to the fact then when I do have some spare time lately, you will find me around the house packing. Ugh, my least favourite job next to unpacking! And then of course I'm getting ready for Alexis' BIG birthday bash on Saturday! Looking forward to it, I wish Alexis would share the same enthusiasm as I do right now for it. I tell her about it, and sing the "Happy Birthday" song to her and she looks at me like I'm a crazy person.

On another note - she's sick. I thought at first it was perhaps her just teething again with all of the excessive drool she has going on, but now factor in an ever dripping nose (like I'm talking I have to wipe it every 2 mins. type of dripping) and a slight cough. Poor girl! We are pumping the vitamin C into her with pieces of oranges to munch on for snack and some juices to help. I'm hoping by Saturday she's a bit better! What a way to celebrate your first birthday if she was sicker than a dog!

Anyways, that's my little update - stay tuned for the vids.

It's Coming Soon!

* I've taken off our personal info. just because you never know with the internet :)

First Visit

Alexis and I went yesterday to the daycare for a little visit in the room she will be in and with her teachers. The visit went well! I was very optimistic about the whole thing, I new very well that Alexis would probably do well, and would be more interested in what was in and going on in the room. When we got there, there were were only two little girls awake, which was perfect. Alexis of course went right over to each of them to check them out, and made them both cry lol. The one apparently had just started as well and wasn't transitioning too well and cried at anyone except the teachers who touched her. The other cried cause Alexis went right up to her and was all up in her face pointing at her soother lol.

Alexis had fun playing and exploring all the toys and books. She walked around the room, said hello to the teachers, even had a cookie at the table! The teachers were very thankful that she's a walker as I guess they don't have many of them (there are a total of 10 children once Alexis starts - 4 boys and 6 girls). She did however smack one of the girls in the head a couple times with a plastic Easter egg toy. Had to reinforce "gentle hands" with her.

I was quite pleased and happy. We will visit again, this time I'm hoping Derek will join us so he knows where her cubby and stuff will go and to at least meet the teachers in case he ever has to do a pick up.

To say the least, Alexis was pooped when we got home and went straight for a nap. Which was nice for mommy too!

10 Months Down ... 2 Months to Go

As promised and a little late, here are Alexis' 10 month stats. Sorry if they are a little repetitive in some areas. I try lol.

At Ten Months Alexis:

  • Is WALKING! and EVERYWHERE! No more crawling. She started two days before she turned 10 months.

  • Is eating EVERYTHING. No more baby food - she no longer likes it. She prefers to eat whatever we are eating, and she isn't shy and I'm pretty sure if I didn't stop giving her some things (ie. fresh blueberries and grapes which she LOVES) she would continue to eat them all day!

  • Still wears a size 4 diaper.

  • Has size 4 feet in shoes ... she's got big honkin' toes!

  • LOVES to read! Our doctor was surprised when I took her last month for her check up that she liked to read so much. Her favourite are books that have tactile things she can touch and scratch lol. I have about 6 books that have the fur and feathers and that kind of stuff that she loves to feel!

  • Babbles all the time - its hilarious to hear her little convo's with herself.

  • Still says "dada" and when you ask her to say mama she says "Ba". Is starting to say "Ka" for Coco (her BFF stuffed dog). She can also say "Pah" for Pup Pup which is what we call Noelle with her.

  • I introduced her to a little baby sign language (the limited stuff I knew from work lol) so she will sign for "more" and "all done". She also waves bye-bye and blows kisses.

  • LOVES to climb stairs and will take off for them.

  • Had her first "melt down" in a store, which included wailing of the arms, laying on the ground and some screeching.

Pretty much Alexis is still the happy girl she has always been. She continues to grow and amaze us each day with her quirky little looks and faces, and her adorable smile! We go next week for her 1 year (geesh) check up and shots, so I will let you know how much she weights and all that jazz after the appointment!

New House Pictures

Here are a couple pictures I took of our new house while we were having the home inspection done. As you will see in the pictures - we do have some work to do ... but that's ok ... we like doing that kind of stuff. And if anyone wants the awesome (haha!) furniture, I'm sure the homeowners would gladly give it to you ... or just wait for it to hit the local Goodwill as I'm pretty sure that's where they are taking it! Once we get the keys to the house at the end of the month I will take some better before and afters. We have some stuff already lined up to get done, so it will be exciting, stressful, dirty and fun of course!

Living Room Window - It's HUGE!

Leading up to the bedrooms - 3 bedrooms, bathroom, and linen closet.

Awesome Bathroom lol love the mint green, don't you? haha. A weird layout - but we can live with it. Lots of ideas for this room! Already bought a fancy new mirror for over the vanity!!! And who wants the shower curtain? No?

Sorry I didn't take any good bedroom pictures. Here is our BIG family room! Complete with a nice, working, wood stove! Again, you have to love the furniture, and the huge honking freezer thats over in the left hand corner that I'm sure is from the 1960's. That will be leaving asap! This picture is just of half of the room.

Another side of family room. Half bath you can see, and stairs going down to playroom, another bedroom (we will use as storage room for now) and the furnace and laundry room.

I don't have a shot of the playroom or other bedroom but here is the awesome carpet! Any takers? lol.

Finally, the laundry room ... don't ask me why I felt the need to take a picture of it. It might possibly be the cleanest laundry room you've ever seen. Put's my laundry room now to shame. Just wait till I get my front load washer and dryer in there .... sooo puuurrdddyyy. And finally a place for Derek to put all his tools - even more space around the shelving unit there ... so many nooks and cranny's!
