Haven't been on here in awhile, but I'm busy trying to get the main bathroom finished up! I am on vacation for the next two days of work, so I am hoping to get it done! I will post progress pictures tomorrow.

On another note, my new favourite show on HGTV as well is Flipping Out ... sooo funny!!  Be back tomorrow with photos!

Dear Alexis,

I know you are sick again with an ear infection, and don't feel your best, but tomorrow could you please sleep in longer than 5am. Pretty please! Thank you!

Sincerely,

Your Extremely Tired Mother.

Waving the White Flag

Okay, I was officially vetoed by Derek. There will be no funky drift wood on any of our walls.  After showing Derek what I had in mind, he quickly responded with "well ... do you want my honest opinion?" .... lol not really what I was looking for!  But anyways, he didn't like the idea, and well this is his house too, and he lives here, so I ditched the idea, and have come up with a plan B.

Behold ...

Isn't it pretty? I thought that this would add a little somthin' somethin' to the wall behind the TV. Derek had also mention adding perhaps one of those nice dark wood IKEA floating shelves above it with some photos ... like what we have in our family room ...

Could work ... we will have to see. Anyways back to the lovely Moroccan design. I'm not sure how big I want them to be ... I wish I could afford the wallpaper but it comes at a pretty hefty price ($119 a roll! eekk!).  So I will be searching some more to either find a way to make and apply this pattern using a stencil .. or maybe I will be lucky and find the wallpaper in my colour, for a waaaayyy cheaper price. I will keep you posted!

On a side note .... good-bye ugly mint green!

(and no this isn't white ... its a pale grey that doesn't show up on camera very well!)

Am I Crazy?

My parents came back today from the cottage up north. I had asked my mom on the way up there to pick me up some drift wood if she finds any. This is what I was thinking ... and please tell me what you think ... crazy or creative? lol.

I want to take one of these ...

and put it here ...

I saw this and loved it! It's from Life In The Fun Lane blog.

So what do you all think? Am I crazy?

To The Beach

We took Alexis to the beach yesterday morning.

She's never been, so we thought this was the perfect time.  She didn't enjoy it however.  She wasn't sure about the sand, and once we got close to the water, she didn't like the sound of it.

The water of course was freezing!  I think we were there, all of 10 minutes, but it was nice to get out and do something together as a family!

Hope you enjoyed your long weekend with your family as well!

We would like to thank our daughter, for letting her parents sleep in today until 7am, after weeks of getting us up between 5am and 5:30 am.  We greatly appreciate it!

Busy Bee!

This morning, Derek and I decided we would take a drive down to Port Stanley, and let Alexis explore the sand and water.  I was able to capture some pictures, although Alexis was all that impressed with the water. In her defense it was freakin' frackin freezing! But nonetheless we went for a little drive, saw the sand and water, ate at the beach, then drove home. A nice little holiday outing. I will post pictures soon from the day.

I was also able to get some things done around the house today, surprisingly. I've started to paint the main bathroom - yes the one with the ugly mint coloured green.  I told one of my friends today that I started to paint it last night, and she thought I had already painted it - that nasty green colour! I quickly corrected her and told her that I would NEVER use that colour anywhere in my house lol.  So I started to edge in there. It is definitely going to need a couple coats.  But I'm excited with the progress!

While that was drying I filled in some nail holes in our trim in the living room - something that has needed to be done since we moved in and I have just never got around to doing it!  I also painted one of the risers on the stairs downstairs to see what it would look like.  Remember this is what I was working with.

Tomorrow I have some time to myself and the house so I plan on getting some more stuff done - that is if I can get up and get at it. These last couple weeks Derek and I have been up at 5am with Alexis. It seems as though Alexis' internal clock has her getting up between 5am and 6am most mornings.  So by her bedtime I'm usually done, but I have to watch my shows, and then I get thinking about all the projects around the house that need to be either started or finished .... so unless I treat myself tomorrow to some "me" time back in bed after she's gone, I will be gettin' at those projects. Wish me luck!
