Winter Babe.

My good friend Sophie who owns Raw Footage Photography asked if she could use Alexis and take some winter pictures of her. I guess people have this notion that you can't take beautiful, outdoor pictures in the winter time? Well, we obviously found this not to be true. Although it is a cold today - it wasn't too bad where we took the pictures. Alexis wasn't in the best of moods but Sophie definitely works with what she's got lol. For instance today Alexis didn't want to sit on Sophie's chair and kept telling us "no" haha. But I love how Sophie is able to catch her eyes in these pictures! Alexis and I took advantage of a nice sunny day and headed outside to do a little playing and shovelling.

What Comes After Christmas?

So when you've taken down all your beautiful Christmas decorations because that time of the year has come and gone, what comes next?


I have tucked all the garland, balls, and glittery picks away till next year, and now I'm left with a naked mantel. I immediately went down to my shelf (this is the shelf that houses all of my knick knacky/decorating "things") and grabbed some things that I could throw up there. For now she's got some stuff on her, but what do I do from now until Spring?

Potty Party.

Potty training continues - although can you call it "training" when nothing has actually made it into the potty? Maybe potty persuasion? Anyways, we got tired of taking off the diaper and chasing Alexis around the house then trying to get it back on her we thought we would introduce the pull-up. Since she's all about being independent these days, we figured she would totally be on board for it, and she was. Only thing is, she doesn't care for the pull-ups too much compared to the ever so comfortable diaper lol? I snapped a couple pictures of the potty process.

So I don't think I showed what Derek and I did to our living room right  after Christmas? We've actually wanted to do it for some time but just never had the time to  I guess.  With Alexis growing we found that little finger marks were appearing on our flat screen t.v. ... something that just wouldn't do for Derek. So we decided that we would place the t.v. on the wall instead.

We headed to Wally Mart and found a wall bracket that claimed to allow the t.v. to hang from the wall just inches away. No cords hanging, no back of the t.v. showing ... I was super excited.

So we bought it and happily took it hope and Derek set it all up. It was actually quite easy to install onto the wall and once we got the t.v. up there we were kind of scared to let go of the sucker. I mean its an expensive t.v. and could you just imagine if it fell? Oh gawd ... the horror.

But to our surprise it's on there ... believe me, and it looks amazing! I'm loving the space between the sideboard and the t.v. and not to mention that now I'm able to put a few decorative pieces there to jazz the area up there (hello Mr.Hooter we meet again! and you already have read about my obsession with the flower tea-light holders. Oh and do you see my gorgeous new picture frame? My friend Robyn picked that baby up for me at the dolla dolla store ... she saw "me" when she saw it at the store - I plan to put a picture of some ridiculously cute girls in it ... and no not me and Robyn lol!).

If you're wondering we did add the legs that came with the sideboard, but we HATE this sideboard! I mean HATE it! It's cheaply made and not very attractive anymore! I've been searching kijiji for a sideboard/dresser that I can paint a bright and bold colour - no luck so far, but I'll keep looking!

Reso Update.

So we are five days in to the resolutions for this year ... also known as "Get Fit This Year" around this house, and I must say ... we're doing pretty darn good! We went grocery shopping Monday and our cart was full of healthy goodness. Derek even said "I think this is the healthiest I've ever seen our cart!" (not that we eat crap all the time or anything lol - but when shopping with Derek I would find that somehow a bag or two of chips would make its way into the cart).

So we got our healthy grub going on ... picture lots of salads, veggie soup and at least 5 packs of those delicious styrofoams rice cakes! Mmmmmm lol. I'm drinking my water each day (although not as much as I would like so I need to step that up a notch!) but I'm really proud of what we are doing!

Each day we are using the Kinect and gettin' our "daily activity" - sometimes twice a day! Derek has started a new 9 week program with a new game and he's keepin' on track!

So that's what's been going on here ... I will probably post these updates now and then to let you know that we haven't fallen off the bandwagon ... and I say that because I'm determined not too!
